Here are some more images from Old Hall Farm, at Bouth, near Ulverston.
It’s a great family day out. With its mixture of animals, vintage machinery and home made ice cream, what’s not to like?
Old Hall Farm is a very picturesque, traditional farm where visitors can see plenty of old-style agricultural activities and pieces of machinery. And of course there are lots of animals to visit.
The activities you can watch include milking time and the giant shire horses working in the fields. You can also see vintage machines processing the animals’ feed. In the dairy you can watch the production of butter, cheese and other products from the farm’s own milk. These include Old Hall Farm’s very own delicious ice cream, which you can try out for yourself. (It will be difficult to resist!) You will also have a chance to get close to the farm animals and feed cows, pigs, sheep, a donkey and the hens.
There is a sizeable children’s play barn, with space to sit, chat and draw pictures. It also contains a large area with bales of straw where they can play safely. There is also an old red tractor in the corner with headlamps that look like eyes!
Outside children can try out the brightly coloured pedal tractors.
Finally, you can buy an assortment of yummy refreshments in the ice cream parlour and the Chicken Shed Tea Room.
It’s a shame the farm is closing after this week, until 2016. So plan to have a day out there if you are in the area!
